The Registered Nurse is responsible for, but not limited to, providing direct nursing care to patients in the primary care practice as directed by the attending physicians. The nurse is responsible for triaging patients and determining if the patient needs immediate, same day, or future appointment; providing treatment of minor illnesses or injuries; supervising allergy shots; coordinating vaccinations and completion of forms related to vaccinations; providing clinical guidance of Medical Assistants; working with Medical Director and other providers to identify and work through CQI projects; serving as a liaison between patients and providers on issues of medical care; and educating patients on pertinent health issues within the scope.

Qualifications

Required Education & Certification: PA State Registered Nurse
Minimum of six months experience in an ambulatory setting required

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with patients in a caring and professional manner. Must be able to interact with patients and providers with a variety of ethnic and cultural differences. Exhibits professionalism, commitment, and a desire to be part of a quality healthcare team are a must. Must have excellent attendance record. Ability to give clear and consistent direction to the patients. Proficiency in the use of PC.
Prior knowledge of health care insurances. Ability to handle multi-tasks in a busy outpatient office. Self-starter and ability to make decisions. Excellent attendance record.

Essential Functions

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Triage patients, determining if patient needs immediate, same day, or future appointment. Provide treatment of minor illnesses or injuries. Supervise allergy shots
Coordinate vaccinations and completion of forms related to vaccinations. Provide clinical guidance to the Medical Assistants. Work with Medical Director and other providers to identify and work through CQI projects. Serve as a liaison between patients and medical providers on issues of medical care. Work with lead M.A. to maintain inventory of clinical supplies and the ordering of supplies as needed. When needed, provides coverage in the lab and other operational related functions. Participates in departmental cross training programs. Represents the departments in committees, task force, etc. Meets regularly with Department Director, Medical Directors and Chair to review practice operations and discuss any issues, problems, plans or updates related to the practices.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Medical Director, Vice Dean of Clinical Services and Department Administrator.
