Location: Coaldale Pennsylvania

Description: St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network is currently seeking to employ Vascular Tech A right now, this position will be placed in Pennsylvania. More details about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. 1.

Is knowledgeable and competent in department scan protocols. Completes a minimum of (1 diagnostic and 1 Vascular) peer reviews on an annual basis according to Managers ! request and study required for review. 2.

Performs and records results of ultrasound evaluations. Evaluates results of ultrasound exams and writes a preliminary report on vascular exams. Responsible for getting reports (prelim and final) to refering physicians.

Reviews and prepares the daily schedule at the beginning of each shift. Resolves issues with the schedule early in the day. 4.

Reviews all of the patient’s prior images, reports and impression sheets for the day’s schedule. Obtains outside images or reports as needed. 5.

Completes all data entry in either PACS or Consensus at the completion of each exam.

6. Rooms are restocked on a daily basis at the end of the shift with laundry, SPD and storeroom supplies. At the end of each study the room will be cleaned and made ready for the next patient. 7. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in hospital educational programs, reading cur! rent literature, in-service meetings, workshops, department me! etings, and local chapter meetings.

Demonstrates competency in the use of RIS/HIS/Consensus and telephone systems appropriate for their job responsibilities. 9.

Assist the Interventional Nurse and Radiologist/Vascular Surgeon in preparing for invasive procedures, by setting up trays using sterile techniques, gathering necessary supplies, assisting during procedures and clean up using Universal Precautions and proper sharps disposal. Transports any laboratory samples to the lab following the procedures. 10.

Possesses knowledge of insurance codes, procedure code sheets, patient charts and required paperwork needed for all procedures and department requirements. 11.

Must have knowledge of handling, disposal and clean up of spills of all HAZ-MAT materials in the Department, including the most commonly used substances, glutaraldehyde and formalin. All policy guidelines for spills and disposal of HAZ-MAT materials will be followed. ! 12.

Accurately adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available resulting in excellent continuity of patient care. 13.

Exhibits the ability to work with others, is considerate of others work ethics, follows and takes directions well. 14.

Accountable for quality of digital images sent to PACS/Consensus. Verify correct patient is selected from worklist, ensures accuracy of Medical Record information prior to being sent to PACS/Consensus. 15.

Responsible for the success of the department to achieve patient satisfaction goal. Every patient should receive patient education and your personalized business card. Apology cards should be sent or given to all patients when we do not meet their expectations.

Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information. 17.

Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding i! ssues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropr! iate reporting requirements. 18.

Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external). 19.

Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety. 20.

Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices. 21.

Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code. 22.

Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1.

May be asked to teach and train students when applicable and assist in orientation of new staff members. 2.

Provides educ! ation information to patients regarding their examination without providing the patient with the final examination results. 3.

Will demonstrate knowledge pertaining to patient condition, history and appropriate medical background and information as it pertains to the examination to be performed. 4.

Assists in gathering and recording Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Program to help the department maintain ACR and ICAVL accreditations.. 5.

Assists in lifting and transporting patients. 7. Other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an approved Radiology Technology Program and/or Ultrasound Program.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year hospital experience, Radiology Department experience helpful and a minimum of two years of Ultrasound scanning experience in the area of abdominal, OB-GYN, small parts and vascular son! ography. ARDMS registry (Abd, OB-Gyn) required at time of hire. Registe! red Vascular Sonographer credentials must be obtained within one year of hire. Current CPR certification required. Basic computer skills required.
