Occupational Health The primary responsibilities of this role are to assist with directing the activities of the Myerstown Medical Department. Assess, treat and advise employee†s with minor to life threatening injuries, perform medical surveillance to detect health related problems, document and maintain medical records. Document accurate medical records to ensure compliance with OSHA and government regulations and perform duties in accordance with site quality and safety systems.

The incumbent will:

  • Be responsible for administration of the site Drug Screening Program pre-employment, post-accident and for cause.
  • Be responsible for documenting employee medical information that is legible, accurate and detailed to ensure recordkeeping meets legal requirements.
  • Be responsible for verifying / coordinating return to work dates informing management of necessary job accommodations to ensure proper rehabilitation period and safety of employees.
  • Be responsible for organizing Reproductive Health meetings for employees who are pregnant, and tracking the pregnancy to ensure the highest safety standards are followed.
  • Assist in organizing First Responder drills and trainings and assist with all programs such as Ergonomics, Shift worker and other programs.
  • Be responsible for ordering supplies & medications † monitor & discard expired supplies.
  • Be responsible for maintaining and following up on all Standard Threshold shifts for OSHA compliance with Hearing Conservation program.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining site medical services programs and procedures to meet Corporate Medical Guidelines and OSHA / DOT regulations.
  • Be responsible for conducting periodic pre-employment screenings by performing tests that may facilitate early detection of health - related problems and appropriate job placement of employees.
  • Be accountable for collecting and communicating up to date treatment methodologies for injuries and exposures to hazardous agents.
  • Assist in case management and tracking of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses (Worker's compensation and short-term disability cases).
The selected candidate is required to possess the following:
  • Bachelor†s degree in Health/Physical or Natural Sciences required with a minimum of 3 years† experience in occupational health or general or emergency room experience required; or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a minimum of 5 years† experience in occupational health or general or emergency room experience.
  • Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse and in good standing with the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing.
  • Certified in CPR/AED.
  • Certified in Audiometry, Spirometry.
  • Knowledgeable of Worker's Compensation Laws, OSHA, HIPPA, ADA Standards, and the State Nursing Practice Act.
  • Excellent Computer Skills.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal/presentation skills.
  • Highly Organized / Effectively Multitasks.
  • High level of Confidentiality.
  • High level of problem solving abilities and ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Excellent ability to prioritize and modify priorities to specific situations.
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in Occupational Health.
