Family Practice

Greet patients politely and in a caring manner. Obtain and record temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight and other pertinent information on all patients seen in the practice. Prepare exam rooms for physician use and examination of patients daily at the start of each exam session. Assure that the exam room is in order and well supplied. Properly clear and clean all exam rooms after each patient care, clearing any clutter and restocking rooms appropriately. Proactively assist physicians, nurses, and patients and anticipate needs of patients and providers. Pay particular attention that patients are not waiting for ! long periods of time without being helped or are kept informed of any physician delays. Perform venupunctures duties and prepare and process specimens for transport to the lab. Accurately record and maintain appropriate logs and administrative records as required by UPHS regulatory and practice policy. Observe patient condition and report any abnormal signs and symptoms to RN or MD. Perform finger sticks for blood glucose testing, urine dipstick testing, rapid strep testing, urine pregnancy test, and hemoccult testing. Report and record results accordingly. Follow all State and UPHS policy requirements on performing tests and performing quality assurance. Call patients promptly with test results, renewal of medications, and other instructions as requested by RN or MD.

Minimum Requirements

Required: Completion of approved medical assistant training program or nursing assistant training, CPR certification once every two years. Basic computer literacy.! Fluent English essential in this clinical setting.
Preferred: One year ambulatory care experience, phlebotomy training, MA certification, and prior experience with EpiCare system
