The agency operates 43 community-based programs and services in South-eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware to provide assistance to needy children, the elderly, the homeless and those with chronic mental health issues together with ex-offenders returning to society.

Nationwide Volunteers of America offers more than 100 different kinds of services in approximately 300 communities touching the lives of more than 1.7 million people a year.

The successful candidate for the Director of Substance Abuse Counseling shall report to the Program Director. The responsibilities are treatment in function, with the coordination of: providing direct supervision to (sub! stance abuse counselor) and ensuring clients receive appropria! te services based on assessed need, and supports the overall treatment component of the program, ensures the provision of treatment program.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess valid driver's license and be able to meet VOA driver standards.

2. Attend court hearings and/or parole hearings as subpoenaed or assigned.

3. Basic computer experience required.

4. Must obtain training in at least one core curriculum within 180 days of hire and certification in that core curriculum with 12 months of training.

QUALIFICATIONS:
a. A NJ licensed psychologist who possesses a certification of proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders from the American Psychological Association, is a certified clinical supervisor by the Certification Board, or is an LCADC; or

b. A NJ LCSW, LMFT or LPC, who is a certified clinical supervisor by The Certification Board or is an LCADC; or
c. A NJ LCADC who in addition holds a Master's degree recognized by the NJ Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee, Division of Community Affairs; or

d. A NJ licensed physician, certified by the American Society of Addition Medicine or a Board certified psychiatrist; or

e. A NJ licensed advance practice nurse who is a certified clinical supervisor by the Certification Board, or is an LCADC

The successful candidate must also possess at least two (2) years of experience directly supervising others. In addition, they are required to have practical skills in communication, counseling processes and resource development. Additional job-related skills include: working with addictive personalities; a basic understanding of human behavior; and utilizing group dynamics to address special needs populations. Effective written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact appropriately with clientele ! is important. A thorough working knowledge of social learning theory, c! ognitive-behavioral intervention and approaches, assessment and evaluation, willingness to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and evenings, and demonstrated competencies in training, group interaction, and mentoring is required.
