Under direct supervision, provides clinical support services to patient care staff by performing a variety of duties related
to patient c! are. Takes patient vital signs, assists patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, feeding, toileting,
etc.), inventories and replenishes supplies and equipment, and performs special assigned duties such as performing
EKGs and Point-of-Care testing.
Duties and Responsibilities:The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, eating, changing bed
linens and bed pans and positioning.
2 Assists in the preparation and transportation of patients for tests, procedures, etc.
3 Monitors patient condition levels; reports changes to the appropriate individuals.
4 Obtains and documents patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration and pulse.
5 Sets up and removes equipment and supplies; ensures equipment is functioning properly and stored appropriately.
6 Performs EKGs and/or P! oint-of-Care testing which may include blood glucose, hemocult! and specific gravity testing.
7 Runs special errands as required. Responds to call lights.
8 Ensures patient rooms, nursing areas, supply carts, etc. are stocked with appropriate items at required levels.
9 Maintains par levels of supplies and equipment on assigned unit(s). Notifies supervisor when reorder points are reached.
Qualifications:
Note: Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum Education High School or G.E.D.
Minimum Experience 3 - 6 months
Req Cert/Registration CPR certification
Pref Cert/Registration Certified Nursing Assistant
Physical Demands Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Working Conditions May be exposed! to infections and contagious diseases
May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements
Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
Occasionally subjected to irregular hours

Department Description:
The Staff on the Central Resource Team meet the changing needs of Unit staffing throughout York Hospital. Great communication skills required to support collaboration with all members of the health care team. Daily or longer term temporary assignments are made through the Staffing and Scheduling Office.
