Description: Hildebrandt is currently seeking to employ Part-Time Program Assistant (PA) -- Hildebrandt Learning Centers -- Lancaster Generations (Adult) right now, this career will be placed in Pennsylvania. The Program Assistant must be physically capable of participating in and conducting semi-active programs, including moving equipment, as necessary. Employees must exhibit maturity, flexibility, and sound judgment. Must be able to work independently and maintains confidentiality. Is familiar with medical terminology and have some understanding of the physical functioning of the human body. All staff must be willing to undergo on-the-job training as it relates with Adult Day Center Activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
-- One or more years of related experience in working with individuals in a healthcare or social service setting.
-- Satisfactory completion of requirements of the Department of Education necessary to be a nursing assistant.
-- In lieu of item 1, 2, or 3, appropriate training conducted by the center in addi! tion to the training required in regulation 11.33 (relating to! program staff orientation and training) of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Code, Title 6 Aging, Department of Aging, Chapter 11 Older Adult Daily Living Centers.

CENTER / PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
-- Maintains the activity area in an approprate manner (neat, clean and free of clutter) in order to meet or exceed State Licensing and quality initiative requirements
-- Act as first line of security, and ensure that clients are picked up only by authorized individuals
-- Assumes a fair share of work, demonstrates initiative
-- Establishes and maintains relationships of cooperation and respect with all co-workers and families, avoids gossip
-- Attends and participates in staff meetings, required trainings and other center events
-- Prepares and submits maintenance and repair requests as approved by the administrator
-- Maintains confidentiality with all clients and employees.
-- Answers telephones if supervisor is unavaila! ble.

DUTIES:
-- Assists the center's Activities Director in developing, planning, preparing, and leading programs, activities, and special projects
-- Participates in all assigned activities which may include activities such as discussion groups, educational topics, and intergenerational programming
-- Assists in the orientation of new clients
-- Lead the activity program in the absence of the Activities Director
-- Share responsibility of seasonal decoration of the center as well as inventory and maintenance of activity supplies and equipment
-- Assists with personal care, meal services, and other services
-- Assist with transportation by escorting client to, from, and within the center
-- Assists professional nursing staff as needed by: Measuring and charting vital signs and weight, Performs simple skin care, Recognize and report changes in patient's condition to the Registered Nurse, Assist clients in the bathroom, w! ith personal care, Check blood sugars as directed
-- Travels to oth! er Adult Day Centers, as needed
-- Occasionally assist with kitchen duties which may include food prep, cooking, serving, and clean up

CLIENT/FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS:
-- Greets clients and families each day
-- Interacts with each client and family in a respectful and caring manner
-- Assists in providing ongoing family support

PROFESSIONALISM:
-- Obtains required continuing education hours and maintains necessary documentation.
-- Participates in daiy team meetings for program planning, client individualization, and task delegation.
-- Attends staff meetings, reuired trainings, and other center events.
-- Demonstrates knowledge of diseases, diagnosis and stages of development. Understands the general areas of physical, social, cognitive and emotional support for the clients and their families.
-- Demonstrates flexibility and openness to new ideas in adult day service practices.
-- Offers and shares ideas a! nd materials with all co-workers.
-- Assumes a fair share of work. Demonstrates initiative.
-- Staff communiates with co-workers to ensure smooth operations
