Nationally recognized St. Luke’s Hospital & Health Network is currently recruiting a Registered Nurse f! or the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. This position is responsible for coordinating and providing individualized quality patient care based on the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Specifically, the Nurse implements, evaluates and documents all patient care interventions and patient responses; demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. The Nurse performs assessment of the mental and physical status of all assigned patients upon admission and every twenty-four hours, thereafter and demonstrates accountability for initiating and maintaining the multi-disciplinary treatment plans, assuring that all elements are reviewed and revised as required by departmental policy and regulatory standards. The Nurse will attend daily patient rounds and shares professional knowledge, making appropriate recommendations regard! ing clinical and programmatic needs of patients as it relates ! to professional knowledge base and existing treatment criteria and will continue to assess patient/family learning needs and provides and documents psycho-educational interventions by utilizing a variety of therapeutic programming modalities (groups, 1:1’s, etc.)

Other responsibilities include demonstrating appropriate knowledge base of psychopharmacology, caring for the patient receiving ECT acting as a member of the security alert team, in responding to agitation/violent behavior of individuals requiring verbal de-escalation and/or physical restraint. The Nurse will also show competency in caring for the patient requiring restraints, seclusion, and / or other behavioral management.

Job Qualifications:
PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sit up to 2 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Stand for up to 8 hours per day, 4 hours at a time. Walk 6 hours per day, 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift, push and carry objects up to 10 lbs. Frequently lift, carry and push objects up to 75 lbs. Transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs. via wheelchair, bed and/or stretcher with assistance when appropriate. Consistently pull up to 10 lbs. Frequently pull up to 250 lbs. with assistance when appropriate. Frequently stoop, bend, crouch, kneel and climb. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Occasional crawling. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Frequently finger and handle objects. Occasionally firmly grasp, twist, turn objects with hands and fingers. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, high and low freque! ncies. Must be able to see as it relate to general, near, far, color an! d peripheral vision, depth perception and visual monotony

EDUCATION: Current PA RN licensure required.

COMMUNICATIONS: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with hospital staff, physicians, providers, patients and their families.
