The positions are located at Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse.

Position Description

The Nursing Supervisor collaborates with the nurses and physicians to coordinate pending discharges/transfers, EVS requests, bed requests, bed assignments, nursing assignments for upcoming shifts, and addresses patient/family requests and concerns.

Identifies, problem-solves, communicates and delegates to facilitate patient flow and NaviCare system maintenance.

Directs, supervises, evaluates and supports patient care activities; serves as a resource to staff nurses and other department(s) personnel on clinical practice and is a resource for implementation/ interpretation of hospital and nursing policies and procedures.

Responsible f! or coordinating off shift education and competencies.

! Collaborates with the Staffing Coordinator to facilitate staffing of the inpatient units on a shift-by-shift basis, utilizing the protocols and staffing patterns established by the Chief Nursing Officers. With guidance from the Staffing Coordinator and/or Nurse Managers, the Nurse Supervisor assumes full responsibility for staffing functions from 19:00 07:00 hours, Monday through Friday, 24 hours on weekends and holidays. In addition they will make adjustments to staffing based on census, patient acuity, fiscal, and Human Resources policies.

Responds to all Rapid Response calls.

Provides support in the way of patient care when suitable accommodations to cover call-outs are not available.

Provides a written shift report to the nurse managers and CNOs each morning

Minimum Requirements

Active RN license for PA required, BLS & ACLS required, BSN required, MSN strongly preferred (or current enrollment in an MSN program),! at least 5-7 years of related clinical experience required, at least 1-2 years of supervisory experience required. Critical care experience preferred.
