Description: LifeCare Hospitals of Pittsburgh is at present looking to employ Dietary Tech right now, this career will be placed in Pennsylvania. The Dietary Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate dietary data and coordinating menu selections for the patients. Tasks include assisting patients with menu sel! ections; entering patients’ diet orders into the computer; printing and distributing production sheets; answering the telephone; maintaining current diet orders for all patients; and printing diet rosters, snack labels, and bulk nourishment floor stock sign sheets. Other responsibilities may include explaining therapeutic diets to patients and/or staff, participating in PI monitoring, assembling patient meal trays accurately, and coordinating staffing as needed. The Dietetic Technician is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.

Essential Functions:
1. Maintains up to date diet records for all patients to include food allergies, food preferences and current diet orders.

2. Provides patient tray cards, menus, diet rosters, snack lists, production sheets, talleys, and labe! ls in a timely manner and oversees formula delivery.

! 3. Monitors and assists with meal service operations to ensure that patients diet orders are followed and meals are delivered timely. Assists with tray line assembly as needed to ensure diet compliance.

4. Participates in PI and HACCP monitoring systems routinely.

5. Greets patients, employees and visitors in a courteous and respectful manner, responds with positive interpersonal skills and handles requests with a positive attitude.

6. Ensures safety at all times by notifying the supervisor of any risk factors seen, initiating and maintaining appropriate safety measures. Responds to and assists others in emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.

7. The knowledge and skills necessary to perform position requirements are demonstrated through the successful completion of competencies established for the position, to include population served, and other special needs of patients and customers, served by the department.

8. ! Adheres to LifeCare policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.

9. Regular attendance and timeliness is required.

Requirements

Supervision: May oversee kitchen in absence of supervisor.

Experience: Four (4) years of food service experience in a hospital or nursing home setting preferred.

Education: Associates Degree in Dietetic Technology or related area. May also consider related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licensure/Certification: Certified as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) preferred. Meet local health requirements for food safety/handling as required by regulatory agencies.
