ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well ! as the proper release of information.

2. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

3. Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).

4. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

5. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.

6. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.

7. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
8. Renders quality Emergency and Non-Emergency Pre-Hospital! Care.

9. Maintains BLS, EMT, HAZMAT R&I, and EVOC Certifications.

10. Collaborates with other health team members to maintain a professional working relationship with all organizations at an incident.

11. Completely, thoroughly, professionally documents assessments, physical findings and treatment rendered in pre-hospital setting on approved trip record in a timely manner.

12. Completes Supply and Maintenance checklist per scheduled shift.

13. Places vehicle in condition of readiness including, cleaning, disinfecting, refueling and restocking.

14. Is alert to potential QI problems and actively participates in solving such problems.

15. Recognizes and utilizes proper chain of command.

16. Responsible for attending at least six (6) staff meetings per year.

17. Recognizes legal responsibilities and functions within limitations as specified by law.

18. Assists with maintenance of records ! and gathering statistical information as requested.

19. Operates emergency vehicle safely, in accordance with State Laws and SLETS Policies.

20. Is alert to and takes precautions when there are hazards on the scene.

21. Reports to ED Supervisor or Charge Nurse when functioning in the ED or ICU and performs duties as assigned.

22. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.

23. Demonstrates/models the hospitals core values and customer service behaviors in interactions with all customers (internal and external).

24. Complies with hospital and departmental policies regarding safety, attendance and dress code.

25. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the hospital as well as the proper release of information.

Job Qualifications:
PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQU! IREMENTS:
Sitting 3 hours a day; 30 minutes at a time. Stand up to 2 hours a day; 30 minutes at a time. Walking up to 3 hours a day; 30 minutes at a time. Continuous use of hands and fingers. Frequently grasping firmly and twisting/turning of the fingers and hand(s) simultaneously. Occasionally reaches above shoulder level. Occasionally lifts an object from a lower to a higher position 26 to 50 pounds. Occasionally carrying an object of 11 to 25 pounds. Occasionally pushes up to 75 pounds. Occasionally pulls up to 75 pounds. Frequently stooping and bending. Frequently squatting. Occasionally crouching and kneeling. Occasionally crawling. Occasional climbing. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, peripheral vision and vision monotony.

POTENTIAL ON-THE-JOB RISKS:
At risk for cuts and punctures, being c! onfined to small spaces, slippery surfaces, assault and battery, radiation, chemical and biohazards, injuries from operating machinery, burns, and back injuries.

SPECIFIC PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE:
Lead aprons for radiation exposure. Follow MSDS and OSHA precautions for exposure to biological and chemical hazards. (Category I).

Employees who work in patient care areas where they may have potential exposure to patients with suspected or proven tuberculosis (TB) must have the ability to wear a particulate respirator and be fit-tested in compliance with the current recommendations from the CDC (enforced by OSHA) or must provide physician documentation as to the inability to wear a particulate respirator.

SUPERVISION:
Supervised by the Executive Director of Ambulance & Transportation Services.

COMMUNICATIONS:
Must be able to communicate with other departments, patients, famil! ies, the community and the medical staff.

QUALIFICATIONS)

(MINIMUM)

EDUCATION:
High school diploma is preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
EMT with current license in the state of Pennsylvania.

At least six months of EMT experience is preferred.

PHTLS certification within one year of hire is required.

EVOC and Materials R&I certification is preferred.
