Job responsibilities will require management, maintenance and input of data for the Adult Cardiac and/or the Thoracic Surgical databases and any activities a! ssociated with the Adult Cardiac and/or the Thoracic Surgical ! databases. Utilize the clinical data to make/encourage process improvements, provide data and input on publications and research papers and to observe clinical outcomes in the Cardiac and/or the Thoracic Surgery patient population. Meeting deadlines for Data Harvest to the National STS Adult Cardiac and/or Thoracic Surgical Database

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses Required:
Must have current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse Licensure.

Degree Requirements and Minimum Experience Required:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.

Masters of Science in nursing or other allied health field preferred.

Prior experience in cardiac and/or thoracic surgery, surgery, cardiology, medical oncology or pulmonary medicine is required.

Computer experience is required with a clear knowledge of computer applications in the clinical settings.

Familiarity with the int! ernet is required. Experience with Excel, Access, Power Point, Microsoft Word and database applications is required.

Skill Requirements:

• Confidentiality of patient information
• Clear understanding of HIPAA Guidelines.
• Confidentiality of Surgeon, site specific information is required with a clear understanding that clinical

outcomes data is not released without prior approval of the Chief of Thoracic Surgery or Division Administrator.

• Knowledge of Institutional Review Board Policies and Procedures.
• Ability to function independently in a surgical practice environment.
• Prior experience in clinical research and regulatory work is preferred.

Additional Information

Physical/ Working Requirements: Physical demands consistent with normal office work. Ability to travel to different sites. Job requires sitting, standing, walking, bending and reaching.
